What inspired you to get involved with Pain Support Jersey?
Having worked as an occupational therapist in the Pain Service, I understood the value Pain Support Jersey brings to our patients and the community.
Can you tell us a bit about your role at Pain Support Jersey and what you enjoy most about it?
I’ve been a committee member for five years, and during that time, I’ve been involved in the charity’s growth, particularly with social activities and educational talks. Since May 2023, I’ve been teaching yoga to charity members, which has been incredibly rewarding.
How do you feel your skills or experiences make a difference in the work you do here?
I have over 40 years of experience as an occupational therapist, working in both Adult Mental Health and Pain Services. I bring those skills and knowledge to the charity.
Is there a particular moment or memory at the charity that stands out as special to you?
Volunteering for the first time at the PSJ café gave me the chance to see how all the members support each other. The atmosphere is so positive and warm, with new members made to feel welcome, and everyone clearly having a great time!
What’s something about you that might surprise people or something unique about yourself?
I finally learned how to do a headstand this year, which proves that anyone can do anything at any age!
What’s one thing you look forward to when working with the Pain Support Jersey team?
The energy and enthusiasm of the committee and members, along with the wide variety of activities and social events available, make PSJ a unique and wonderful charity to be part of.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about getting involved with Pain Support Jersey, whether as a member, volunteer, or supporter, what would it be?
Just do it; PSJ is a fantastic charity!
